    SGI Keyboard Types

     General Information

    Introduction

Various SGIs do not only use different keyboard connects, but also different keyboard types with respect to signaling. But the 4D style and Personal IRIS style keyboards both use the same electric signals, so you can simply build a converter.

    IRIS 3000 Style

The IRIS 3000 has a DB15 connector, but I don't know if the keyboard is compatible to the personal IRIS. But when you have a look at the keyboard of my IRIS 3130, then I have my doubst, as the keyboard has some very unusual keys and others are missing.

    4D Style

    Personal IRIS Style

    Indigo Style

    PS/2 Style

All newer SGIs (beginning with Indy and Indigo²) use standard PS/2 connectors for mouse and keyboard, thus you can use almost any conventional keyboard.
